Hot Ignition Key

Not sure if anyone is still using this forum,,but I have a question,,, The ignition key in my 51 Cosmopolitan gets hit, when I drive for a short distance,, and stays hot if I drive for a long distance,, This has got me stumped

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Re: Hot Ignition Key

Hi Pat,
In later models, it indicates high resistance between a switch's contacts.
I'm unfamiliar with your year and model but I would start with any switches in your column.

This is VERY important by the way. I lost my 1985 due to a switch that separated and caused my main wire harness to catch fire.
